Bathafarn Bach

About Bathafarn Bach

The Historical Society of the Methodist Church in Wales (Cymdeithas Hanes yr Eglwys Fethodistaidd yng Nghymru) was founded in 1946. In the same year the Society published the first volume of a new periodical with the title Bathafarn.

The title refers to the home near Ruthin of Edward Jones who played a central role as a missionary among Welsh speakers at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th centuries. 32 volumes of Bathafarn were published between 1946 and 2003 and they include many important articles about the history of Methodism in Wales, mainly in Welsh with a few articles in English especially in the earlier volumes. Bathafarn has been digitised by the National Library of Wales as part of its ‘Welsh Journals Online’ programme.

Since 2011 the Historical Society has published articles in a new Welsh-language periodical, Bathafarn Bach. Editions 1-10 are available on this website.

In the last few years, the Society has published Bathafarn Bach as part of the Gwyliedydd which is where the next two editions, Nos 11 and 12, are to be found (Gwyliedydd 239 and 244 respectively (Dec-Jan 22-23 and Oct-Nov 23).
